17_4_6 YUANG SHUO

i think today we have relaxed

cos we are holiday central... and it's easter break (not that it's called easter...wish i knew what)

kinda like queenstown with no snow and no lake but with massive limiestone karsts and a wee river (li river)

so, after burying our deep bitterness @ being subject to classic ripoff tactics (dropped off by the bus - after a 12 hour bus trip! - on the outskirts of town - after we insisted we needed to go further blah blah... 20 mins later packs on backs walking thru town followed by lying touts (kinda sad really) - just to prove our point that we knew we were being ripped off) we are now sitting on our asses overlooking amazing sceneries drinking instant coffee and smoking cheap cigarettes (cos it's a holiday you know?)

the vibe is really friendly. fully catering to the blend of chinese and foreign tourists with everybody blending nicely. lotsa families, lotsa 'minority' people selling knick knack paddy whacks...

both have been feeling kinda sick so will take it easy (cos cut price shopping and sitting round eating wonton soup really takes it out of you)

on the balcony, jon found his chinese

Meeting Delegates: Paul Keenan, Michael Keenan, Bernadette Keenan, Gillian Hawke, Alana Hawke (nee Keenan), Jonathan Hawke.

Following the shock cancellation of supergroup U2's Australian concerts, the HAWKE KEENAN FGC stood on tenuous ground. Saturday: Newtown shopping, Tattoo addtions, hurricane's rugby, harbour cruises, monorail madness, chinese ripoffs, U2 tributes and tui (not toohey) thanks.
Sunday: Slow rising, bus excursion, Paddy's markets, Bernadette whirlwhind, chinatown goodness, (Farewell to delegates Michael and Bernadette), Syndey tower and good ol' aussie pub meal.
Monday: Newtown (again), Manly ferry and beach times, only slightly dodgy Kings Cross, Delicious Yugoslavian food and waitresses (maybe you'd like me to meet your mother?)
Tuesday: Farewell to delegate Paul on his 'surprise' return home. Newtown (againer). Delegates Gillian, Alana and Jonathan speed to Melbourne for extended Reeves Hawke FGC.
